Welcome!
A gift. Massage is a gift.
Massage is a gift! Perhaps you’ve received a gift certificate in celebration of a special occasion. Maybe you’ve been gifted a session by someone who cares about you and knows you’re going through a stressful situation.
Or … you’ve already experienced the benefits of massage, customized to your particular needs, and you’ve made the commitment to yourself of scheduling regular sessions. Carving time out of hectic schedules for our own needs becomes a gift of self-care.
I also view the ability to deliver a therapeutic, customized massage as a gift granted to me.* Your trust, placed in me as your massage therapist, enables me to be of most service toward your particular concerns.
Whether or not you’ve experienced therapeutic massage in the past, you’re likely aware of the benefits traditionally attributed to massage, such as: relaxation, relief from chronic muscle pain, stress reduction, decreased anxiety, enhanced body awareness, and improved sleep.
If you haven’t experienced massage, and don’t know what to expect, you may have some questions. You can find answers to some typical concerns new clients may have here.
When you are ready to schedule, please feel free to call me at 218-391-5003, or e-mail me.
* However, in case you considered asking, this doesn't make your massage free. Need to know my rates? Find them here.

Hi, there! Thank you for taking a moment to learn more about me and the services I offer!
My name is Karla Southworth and I’m the owner of Inspirations Therapeutic Massage, LLC. Therapeutic Massage is my third career, following undergraduate education at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. I spent a number of years as a real estate loan closer and 14 years in the in-house medical recruitment/locum tenens field.
While working full time, I attended a 600-hour Therapeutic Massage program at Lake Superior College of Duluth, MN, graduating in May, 2008. Initially, I pursued massage part-time as an independent contractor at Comfort Zone Therapeutic Massage and in October, 2014, I established my current practice.
Over the years, I've completed a number of advanced courses. Your session might include the integration of techniques from Swedish, deep tissue and myofascial work, depending on your needs.
Most recently, I’ve been so very fortunate to participate in specialized training and advanced coursework in oncology massage. I am inspired to serve people with cancer or cancer histories, including those going through treatment or in the midst of diagnosis.
My credentials also include the following:
-
Board Certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork
-
Member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals
-
Preferred Practitioner with the Society for Oncology Massage
If you have any further questions, please feel free to call or e-mail me – you can find my contact information here.

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE
Therapeutic massage sessions involve the integration of several techniques drawn from Swedish, deep tissue, sports and myofascial release modalities. Designed to ease chronic pain or discomfort, increase flexibility, assist in athletic event preparation and recovery, and restore an overall sense of well-being, each therapeutic massage is aligned with your goals for your session.
Therapeutic and/or relaxing massage sessions can be combined with Spa packages offered by Cailin Deas Hair Salon. Please call the Salon directly at 218-879-5044 for package availability and coordination of scheduling.
ONCOLOGY MASSAGE

Oncology massage takes into account the individual health history of people with active cancer or cancer history (even if long ago), and provides for appropriate modifications to traditional therapeutic massage modalities to ensure your safety and comfort. Care is taken in the customization of your massage, and may potentially involve adjustments to pressure, positioning, therapeutic techniques used and session length. Compromised tissue, surgical sites, areas of bone or vital organ involvement, medical ports, and other factors are considered. Beneficial effects suggested by research, and reinforced by client self-reports, include reduction in pain and nausea, fatigue, anxiety and depression, and an improvement in overall quality of sleep.
